Responsibilities
As the Chief Executive Officer, I am responsible for the overall management of Tau Kappa Epsilon. The Fraternity has a full-time paid staff, a multi-million dollar operating budget, and chapters and colonies across North America. I serve as the primary interface between the Fraternity and the media, key constituencies, and various boards and committees. I am the lead staff member on all legal disputes related to the Fraternity, and coordinate the programs and services offered by the Offices of the Grand Chapter to our membership.
About Me
I was born and raised in Tampa, Florida and attended the University of Florida where I earned my bachelors (Political Science), masters (Political Science/Public Administration) and juris doctor (law) degrees. At UF, I served as student body president and on numerous university committees related to the athletic association, long-range planning, and top administrative search committees.
Post-college, I practiced law in Central Florida then served as Executive Director of the Florida Student Association, representing 250,000 state university students throughout Florida's 10 public universities. As Executive Director, I successfully lobbied for passage of pro-student legislation, $40 million in new student aid, and obtained a gubernatorial veto of a statewide tuition hike.
For the Fraternity, I served as chapter Crysophylos and Histor as an undergraduate, then on the Board of Advisors for the Gamma-Theta Chapter for eight years, four of which were as chairman. I also served as Grand Province Advisor in Florida and on the Lambda-Iota Colony Board of Advisors. I attended the first Alumni Volunteer Academy and was named an International Top Teke in 1992.
I have served as Chief Executive Officer since July 1, 2000 and am a Certified Association Executive. In 2006, I served as Board President of the Indiana Society of Association Executives, and received their Association Executive of the Year Award in 2008.
What I Like To Do in My Free Time
I enjoy rooting for my alma mater – the mighty Florida Gators and visiting major league ballparks around America. I love boating and sailing, having spent a fair amount of time traveling around the United States. I have performed volunteer community service work through the Big Brothers program and the Boy Scouts, and enjoy governmental relations and politics. I am active in numerous local republican clubs and campaigns, as well as the Indiana Society of Association Executives, Florida Bar, Fraternity Executives Association, North-American Interfraternity Conference, Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity, Calvin W. Prather Lodge 717 (F&AM), Murat Temple Shrine, and the American Society of Association Executives.
